"Qr-truth"

The poster shows faces of people generated by artificial intelligence (AI), they are indistinguishable from the real people, but at the same time, they are an absolute fake. Human is not able to recognize the generated face. The main purpose of creation - advertising.
An artificial person can be whichever- good, cheerful, evil. It can evoke any emotion. A real manipulator of emotions and desires.

On November 21, 2019, at 7 pm, a new project by Kyiv artist Iryna Vorona - “Qr-truth” (“Code of Truth”) opened at «Tuzov Gallery».
The exhibition was held from November 21 to December 2 at: Kyiv, St. Henri Barbusse 51/1.

The project was selected by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, on a competitive basis, to receive a grant from the President of Ukraine - financial support from the government to young artists to create and implement socially significant, large-scale creative projects.
The project was initiated by: the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine, the Administration of the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture.

On grand opening were presented sculptural masks with symbols of manipulation and qr-codes of eleven fundamental emotions (according to K. Izard): "curiosity", "joy", "surprise", "embarrassment", "anger", "grief-suffering", " disgust ”,“ contempt ”,“ fear ”,“ shame ”,“ guilt ”.

This project has two important aspects of social component:
-manipulation with emotions, that we created by our own, when gadgets entered our life’s and totally immersed emotional part of live communication;
-manipulation with information: everyday haunting advertising, television, politics, social networks, colleagues and chiefs who use our weaknesses.
«If you look around, you will see that manipulators are everywhere. We’re all victims of manipulators attack’s. Daily haunting advertising, television, politics, social media, colleges and chiefs that use out weaknesses. But truth is that we’re also manipulators. Desires, fears and interests manage emotions and we play on others feelings. Someone are more professional, others less. Humans are emotional creatures, that is why manipulations can’t be avoided. It’s not possible to keep oneself from all psychological attacks, it’s not possible to hide under the mask all the time», - Iryna Vorona.

Conception:

Manipulation is play with emotions, when logical thinking is reduced, and we become vulnerable.
When manipulator use somebody’s weakness, he breaks stability at the same time, calmness, clear thoughts and analytic abilities fade into the background, or even disappear.
Goal of manipulation is to reach the target, while playing with emotions find weakness. Come to know real manipulator through emotions it’s not an easy task. Such person won’t be aggressive, angry or insolent, in fact he’s alway polite, open, smile and communicative. Manipulator hide own emotions under the mask, and formally its quit pleasant person.
As for the own emotions, manipulators have problems. If you press on weaknesses of normal person, you will see emotional reaction immediately: anger, fear, hurt. Partially or even totally professional manipulator block own emotions, and use them in more suitable moment. It’s normal life and usual behavior of manipulator . Question is, can wee call such person happy or not? Eventually professional manipulator doomed to totally aloneness.
Everyone could be manipulator, no matter of age, sex, education or social status.

Discussion “Emotion / information manipulation in modern society”
On the top day of “Black Friday” manipulations, at the Tuzov Gallery a panel discussion on “Emotion / information manipulation in modern society” was held within the framework of the project by Irina Vorona, an artist from Kyiv.
“The project was created to recognize the reality, distinguishing the true from the fake. Masks are emotionless but with the help of QR-codes you may see the true emotions. By separating your true emotions from the obsessive ones you will start thinking and analyzing and therefore to control yourself. While wearing a mask, a person still cannot conceal all the emotions. First of all, it will be seen in their eyes. In 1-2 seconds after communication the eyes will give away the essence”, comments the artist and the author of the project “QR-Truth”.
“The lack of information is worrisome. However, being over-saturated with it brings the same feelings. Here is an example of manipulation, which is why it is easier to manipulate the large masses of people. However, this is a two-way street: at first the person is satisfied with manipulation and its result but over time everything returns to them. Thus using manipulative methods, you should always remember about the consequences”, says psychologist Alexei Schneier.
“What should do with this? Create a space where people can meet, interact and share their emotions. The main thing is don’t forget about real life”, advises Svetlana Korshunova.

Svetlana Korshunova, a specialist in PR, marketing and advertising. Svetlana is the curator of the non-profit cultural social art project ARTEFACT.

Also, an interactive installation with Qr codes of ten basic emotions ( C. Izard): anger, contempt, disgust, distress, fear, guilt, interest, joy, shame, surprise.

Unemotional faces of real manipulators with features that get on the right side of everybody. They don’t attract lots attention, but on the subconscious level are perceived as signal: we can trust this person. Real manipulators of emotions and desires. Materials are used in such way to reproduce nature of manipulator.
With growing information influence become harder to recognize true emotions, that are hidden deep inside. Technologies of qr code creation and recognition means “quick response”. Every image have particular qr code, that send to real emotions hidden under the mask. Can wee trust this person, what he or she think about and feel. Or maybe it’s professional manipulator, who is un honest, and use it in more convenient moment. With qr code manipulator is like an open book. Answer on question- where is true emotion.
