Place of realization: Site specific installation “White souls” was created for the project Artefact: Chernobyl 33 in 2019 within the media art residence “Carbon Residency” (Kyiv, Ukraine). Media art project “White souls network” was created in 2020 within the Artefact: Chernobyl 34 and performed during the 11th festival of media art “MADATAC” in Madrid, Spain. Both art projects were created with the support of the Ukrainian cultural foundation.

The installation “White souls” was created especially for the project Artefact: Chernobyl 33 within the media artists residency Carbon (Kyiv, Ukraine) in 2019. The work underwent several stages of transformation, from the site-specific installation in the space of the 13th Carbon Pavilion, Kyiv River Station building, Air Gogolfest bunker in Vinnytsia and to a virtual 3D object presented at the MADATAC International Media Art Festival in Madrid (Spain) in 2020.
The installation “White souls” tells the story of those who first entered the nuclear flame that engulfed the 4th reactor of the Chornobyl nuclear power plant in 1986.
This project explores the theme of the inner world of human and the flow of energy, which has the ability to pass through time and space, even after death, energy does not disappear, it accumulates in space, and acquires the ability to communicate with living creatures in the so-called new dimension. This virtual project is implemented in one of the authentic places of Chernobyl - the reactor control room.
The “White Souls” project has no time limits, it is formed, pulsating, living, developing and transforming with each passing year. Pixels replace threads, forming a new virtual network, the interweaving of information flows. Visual information of symbols created from codes of numbers and letters broadcasts the life course of an event that went down in history, forever changing the ecological map of the world. On April 26, 1986, the world’s energy flow was shattered, the root causes of this event forever plunged into eternity, and the next generation can only continue to look behind the curtain of history, in search of answers that are encrypted in echoes of truth.
The era of post-truth and manipulation makes its changes in the process of personality formation. Each person has an inner and outer shell, which are formed depending on the environment. Transparent, but strong, it simultaneously absorbs and reflects the flow of information, passing through the energy of internal light. The “White Souls” project forms a light network of figures, codes and symbols – a microcosm of its own existence, hundreds of variants of events with nodes and points of contact, followed by a new round of events, relationships, emotions. Different options for yourself and different choices in a continuous process of finding broken code:
